TrueUp turns each Shopify payout into a single journal entry in your accounting software. To do that we read amounts — and almost nothing else.
What we never collect
We do not collect, store, or process any personal data about your customers. No names, no email addresses, no shipping addresses, no phone numbers, no payment card details. This is a deliberate design decision, not a promise we hope to keep: the app never requests access to that data in the first place.
What we access from Shopify
- Payouts — the date, amount, currency and status of the deposits Shopify Payments sends to your bank, and the individual charges, refunds, fees and adjustments that make them up.
- Orders — only the monetary totals: product sales, discounts, shipping, tips and taxes. We use these to work out the proportions of each payout. We do not read the customer attached to an order.
What we store
- Your shop domain and Shopify access token.
- Your QuickBooks connection: the company identifier and the access tokens needed to post entries on your behalf.
- Which of your accounts we post each category to, so you can review and change it.
- The payouts we have processed and the journal entries we built from them, so you can audit what we did and so we never post the same payout twice.
- A log of what happened during each sync, to help you if it fails.
What we share
We send journal entries to the accounting software you connect, and nowhere else. We do not sell data, and we do not use your data to train machine learning models.
Deleting your data
When you uninstall TrueUp we delete your accounting tokens immediately — they are keys to your books and we have no reason to keep them. The rest of your data is deleted when Shopify asks us to, 48 hours after uninstalling. You can also write to us at any time and we will delete everything on request.
Uninstalling TrueUp does not remove journal entries we already posted. Those live in your accounting software and belong to you — deleting them is your decision, not ours.
